THE IDEA
To hold a musical competition amongst the best of the media and advertising industry’s
musical talent, both bands and solo performers. All entries will be judged by an eminent
panel of musical experts prior to the main festival and the shortlisted entries will get to
perform live at Goafest. The eventual winners will be chosen by the Goafest audience, via
public voting, at the venue itself.
ELIGIBILITY
- Open to all Validly employed/associated with the Advertising, Media, and Marketing fraternity in India
(proof of employment to be submitted, signed by the company’s authorized signatory).
- Participants can enter as solo performers and/or as bands.
- Each band can have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 people (can be from different organizations).
CATEGORIES
- Vocals Solos (Indian): can be in any Indian language, any genre, from any region in the country.
- Vocals Solos (Western): Can be in any international language, genre or region in the world.
- Bands (Indian & Western - mixed): Each band must perform both Indian & Western genres.
**A solo performer can enter either or both Indian & Western categories.
**2 solo artists (Indian), 2 solo artists (Western) and 2 bands (mixed genres) will be shortlisted from all the entries, to perform live at Goafest.

JURY
The judgement made by the jury shall be binding on the performers/bands. No representation
for reconsideration of the same shall be entertained under any circumstances.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE A FINALIST
- A. Getting to Goafest 2023
Travel & Stay will be taken care of by Goafest organizers for
- Soloists - 1 return economy airfare ticket + Single / Double occupancy stay in 3-4 star hotel with meals included.
- Bands - 6 return economy airfare tickets + 3 double occupancy rooms for each band finalist in a 3-4star hotel with meals included.
- Access to event for 26th May 2023 - accreditation will be provided.
- Meals at Grand Hyatt per the event meal plan.
- Travel dates are subject to the schedule and will be within the window of 24th-26th only with return on 27th.
**Finalists to take care of their own transportation to & from Goa airport and Goa hotel being put up. Also to take care of any excess baggage as needed for their performance including musical instruments.
**There will be no reimbursement of travel expenses and performers have to fill in their details during submission itself as needed to do bookings.
- B. Sound & Equipment Provided at Goafest
For Solos:
- A finalist can choose to use their own minus one track which must be submitted to organizers by 18th May 2023.
- In case they prefer, they can also carry their own instrument to play and perform at the live finale.
For Bands:
- Basic stage and sound equipment will be arranged by Goafest event partners.
- PA System, 2 Guitar amps, 3 Mics, 1 Sound Engineer/ Mixer will all be provided by the organizers.
Instruments: Professional drum set, and full-length keyboards will be provided for by
the organizers at Goa. All other instruments will need to be brought by the bands themselves.
- C. The Live Performance at Goafest
- Each solo performer will get 5 mins to perform live on stage. You can choose one song or two or a medley, within the stipulated 5 minutes.
- Each of the 2 chosen bands will get a total of 15 minutes each to perform (number of songs performed is up to the bands). Importantly, at least one of the songs must be from either Indian or Western genres. (For example, if a band is performing 3 songs in 15 minutes, they can sing one Indian and two Western or two Indian & one Western). Absolute care to be taken not to exceed the time limit which will be part of the judging criteria for the live show.
- The order of performance will be done via picking of lots.
- Time for Sound Check and rehearsals with house band, before the actual performance, to be discussed and confirmed by Goafest organizers at a later date. (Tentatively scheduled during the lunch break turnover of Goafest conference. This is subject to change and will be communicated ahead accordingly).
- Winners of Advertising Rocks 2023 will be determined by a total score combination of live jury + voting by Goafest attendees.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- Each participating performer (solo or band) to send in an audition video by May 5th 2023.
- Fill in the Advertising Rocks Google Form. Ensure you put in the link of your performance video.
- Your performance link can be an accessible google drive link, unlisted YouTube link
etc. for ease of access and quality assurance. Timebound wetransfer/sendgb or other
such links will not be considered.
- Let us know songs or tracks that you would perform if you won the opportunity to take the stage at Goafest 2023 as well.
- Only fully completed and submitted forms will be considered for the judging.
- For easier access, you are recommended to put all form particulars and needs into a common google drive link and share in all fields as needed.
Stipulations for Audition Videos
- The video should be maximum 6 minutes long.
- Participants can put in as many songs in it as they like, but within the stipulated 6 minutes. You can do single songs or medleys - the choice is upto the participant.
- While the video can be shot even on phone cameras, the sound must be of good quality, as these videos will be used by the judges to shortlist the final performers.
- You can submit a pre-shot video as well if applicable, however, it should be recent and should contain all the final participants only.
- The same people in the audition videos submitted will have to perform at Goafest, if selected. You won’t be allowed to change participants or band members after submission of audition videos.
Other Rules & Regulations
- Upload a performance video of 6mins (maximum) to an unlisted YouTube link. This can be either a cover or an original track.
- Fill up the participant NOC form and submit the same for each participant – soloist or band member. Please add the link to the same to the field in the Google form.
- Ensure all performer details are correct and each performers proof of occupation is submitted as part of the form. Without proof of occupation, your entry stands invalid.
- We trust that all details submitted by participants are ratified and valid. In the event of any instance of this not being true, it amounts to immediate disqualification of the entry at any point in time including post the event conclusion.
- No change of performer will be permitted except under extraordinary circumstances which will be at the organisers discretion.
- Judging Criteria: up to judge’s/juries discretion.
Please ensure to read the rules and regulations & all information shared to ensure your
submission is valid.
‘Organiser’ i.e., Advertising Agencies Associations of India reserves the sole right and absolute
discretion to modify, change the current rules and regulations within its sole discretion in
connection with the music competition as it may deem fit and proper and may amend them
any time and the Organiser shall have full power in the matter of interpretation and
enforcement thereof.
Performances that are infringement of any other party’s intellectual property rights, lewd,
obscene, disparaging, defamatory, libellous, offensive or otherwise contain inappropriate
content or objectionable content should not be submitted and the Organisers reserves the
right remove or demand the Performers/Participants to remove such entry at any point as it
deems fit.
Performance/Participant that does not comply with the rules and regulations shall be
disqualified. All the decisions made by the Organiser regarding this musical competition i.e.,
‘ADVERTISING ROCKS FINALE’ shall be final.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER?
Once we have the final scores from our judges, we will announce the top 2 finalists in each category.
The top 2 shortlisted bands & solo performers (western + Indian vocals) will then take part in
the ADVERTISING ROCKS FINALE which takes place on 26th May at Grand Hyatt, Goa.
